Tambi Braun SLP.D CCC/SLP is an Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University. She is a lead faculty member for several classes including Neuroanatomy and Physiology, Craniofacial Anomalies, Cognitive Communication Disorders and Seminars in Professional Issues. Clinically, she has supervised graduate clinicians for 18 years. She served on the executive board of FCPA for 6 years and was President in 2009. Dr. Braun served on the International Outreach Committee of ACPA. She is the NSSLHA Advisor for the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. She has previously presented on “working with volunteers of different ages and generations” and “understanding communication of other generations.”
This workshop will provide participants with information to assist supervisors of SLP graduate students and clinical fellows to create pathways of positive support. The challenges for new clinicians will be explored. The ASHA guidelines for clinical supervisors will be discussed and case scenarios explored.
1- Participants will be able to determine the current issues with supervising new clinicians post-pandemic
2- Participants will be able to identify the role and scope of a supervisor versus a mentor
3- Participants will be able to identify supportive resources when facing supervision challenges
